Vacation 2003
Cornelius/Portland, Oregon

The Dogs

This is Jambi. She's kind of spasmodic.

This is Sadie. She's kind of spooky.

The People

This is Tara. She's under the dogs. Tara is expecting my nephew in July, so she gets kind of tired.

This is Corey. We stopped by his cubicle a few times. Here, we see him on the phone with Tara.

This is Ichiro. He is a baseball star. But I'm getting a little bit ahead of myself.

What We Did

Sunday
Well, we went to Seattle for a Mariners game. You've already seen Ichiro.

And here I am, as photogenic as ever. This picture was taken before the sunburn.
On the way to Seattle, I saw something we don't see in Minneapolis anymore.

I didn't get a Slurpee.
We also saw these sculptures, out in the middle of nowhere.

On the way back to Cornelius from Seattle, Corey got to do something he never gets to do in Oregon.

Look at the excitement on his face!

Tuesday
Corey and I went to the coast. I wanted to see the ocean.

Here we are at the beach. As you can see, we brought the dogs with us.

As you can also see, it was a beautiful day. We went to a brewpub right on the beach. The beer wasn't very good, but the fish and chips were excellent. Corey enjoyed his patty melt.
We took the Three Capes Scenic Loop on the way back.

See? Scenic.

Wednesday
Corey and I met my old friend Rick for lunch. Rick and I went to high school and church together. He's doing well. Unfortunately, he had to get back to work, so we didn't get to talk very long. If I had been thinking, perhaps I would have had Corey take a picture of us.
Corey, Tara and I went to dinner at a Lake Oswego brewpub that overlooks the Willamette River. Again, a picture would have been really cool.
On our way home, we swung through downtown so I could see Portlandia, the second-largest hammered-copper statue in the world. (The Statue of Liberty is #1.)

When we got home, we had a birthday party of sorts for Sadie.
