Should
I Stay or Should I Go?
(naturally, some of these reasons are better than others)
Nicollet:
pros-
- I like my fellow drivers better. And I miss them.
- For the most part, making relief (relieving a driver in
mid-trip) is much easier.
- Closer to home.
- They leave these great paper towels that the mechanics use
out for drivers' use.
- The work is generally more interesting; it's certainly
busier, which means more stress.
- There's a sink in the drivers' room.
- Short walk to the dispatcher from the parking lot, helpful
when running late.
- Satellite TV.
- No 5 line, no articulated buses, no short buses.
cons-
- Some of the dispatchers are, um, difficult.
- The work is almost always busy.
- I'll have fewer evenings off.
- Locker upstairs.
- Driver Groupie.
- 21 line.
- Less variety, approximately 35 (?) routes.
Heywood:
pros-
- Decent dispatchers.
- Locker on the main floor.
- Work isn't as busy. The work is really
pretty good, overall.
- Cool work- driving past Lake Minnetonka is
great.
- Better vending machines in the garage.
- No 21 line.
- More variety, approximately 60 routes.
cons-
- The not-as-busy work is often very boring.
- Long walk to the dispatcher from the parking
lot.
- Farther from home.
- Fellow drivers are OK...
- Relief made downtown or Fifth Street Garage
(long, cold walks this winter).
- No sink in drivers' room.
- Broadcast TV only.
- No nice paper towels for driver use.
- 5 line.
